DSDF displays data obetained from ADVANCE system, OBDII connector, and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System including GPS). In addition, driving data can be recorded, replayed, and analyzed by connecting a USB flash drive (commercially available).

We recommend using this product with the ADVANCE Control Unit Sensor Package, which includes the ADVANCE Control Unit SE and sensors.

Main Features and functions

4.2inches touch panel TFT color LCD, a dim sensor, and a low reflection glass enhances the operatability and the readability.

The image is DF15901 (w/ touch panel). DF15903 has a different panel design and it has no touch panel.

The display pattern can be selected from 4 patterns. (G/Locus mode is added by system updating.)

Data obtained from 3 different devices can be displayed in one screen.

Sequential indicators of 10 red LEDs

Driving data can be recorded, replayed, and analyzed by using a commercially available USB flash drive. The system can be updated too.
*A PC wired to the internet is necessary to analyze data and update the system.

A separate switch unit which is easy to push by fingers with racing gloves is included in the package.

Mounting brackets are included and the paper templates are attached.

Warning

  • Defi-Link ADVANCE Control Unit and sensors are necessary to be installed to obtain senser data from ADVANCE System. A GNSS antenna and OBDII connector is included in DF15901 and DF15902. A GNSS antenna is included in DF15903, but OBDII connector is not included (sold separtely).
  • A commercially available USB flash drive is necessary to record, replay, and analyze driving data.
  • Defi Sports Display F is expressed as DSDF.
  • The images may differ from real products due to the photography conditions and improvement of specifications.

Regarding USB flash drive

Record, replay, and analysis become possible by connecting a USB flash drive.

What you can do by connecting a USB flash drive

Cautions regarding usage of a USB flash drive

  • 200MB and over is necessary in a USB flash drive.
  • Around 40MB is necessary to record the driving log data of 9 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds.
  • A USB flash drive with security functions such as password cannot be used since data cannot be written to it.
  • Before using a USB flash drive, format it in FAT32.
  • Select a USB flash drive in consideration of the installation space. Once this product is fixed, connectors and a USB flash drive may not be mounted/detached easily. Use an USB extension cable such as an angled 90 degree cable with male to female adapter if necessary. Give attention to the direction of the USB connector.

*Products is for only on vehicles with a 12V electrical system. Never use products on 24V vehicles.
*Products can not be installed in altered vehicles.

When connecting to ADVANCE System:
*To install pressure gauges or temperature gauges, proper sensor attachments are necessary. The thread sizes of sensors are 1/8PT.
*Corresponding speed pulse: 2, 4, 8, 16, pulse free (FREE)
FREE setting: 1,274～16,562pulse/km (equiv. 2 to 26 pulse)
*Applicable number of cylinders: 1,2,3,4,5,6,8

Course data for time measurement
Log data analysis with PC (DashWare)

To use the function of recording, replaying, and time measuring, a commercially available USB flash drive is necessary.
200MB and over is necessary in a USB flash drive. Around 40MB is necessary to record the driving log data of 9 hours 59minutes 59seconds.
A USB flash drive with security functions such as password cannot be used since data cannot be written to it. Please prepare one without security functions.

Course data for time measurement

Some circuit course data in Japan are able to be downloaded on this page. The data can be retrieved by saving it to a USB flash drive and by connecting it to DSDF.

How to retrieve course data to DSDF

  1. Connect a USB flash drive to DSDF and turn on the power The “DEFI” folder is automatically created. This step is unnecessary if the “DEFI” folder is already created.
  2. Download the course data (ZIP file) from the download icon below and unzip it.

  3. Save the course data to be used under the DEFI> DSDF> COURSEDATA folder of the USB flash drive.

    “COURSEDATA” folder is not mentioned in the manual (DSDF’17.07-1). We apologize for the mistake.

  4. Connect the USB flash drive to DSDF and confirm the course name is displayed.
    MENU > TIME MEASURE SETTINGS > COURSE SELECT

Caution

  • Do not change the file names. Changing file names will make the data unusable.
  • Save only the course data to be used in a USB flash drive.
  • Your own courses can be created. Please refer to the manual.

Movie

Log data analysis with PC (DashWare)

Driving log data recorded by DSDF and videos recorded by an in-car camera such as GoPro can be synchronized in DashWare. Graph display is also available.

How to retrieve logging data of DSDF

  1. Download the DashWare from DashWare website and install it.
  2. Download the ZIP file from the download icon below and unzip it.

  3. Add the setting file (DefiSportsDisplayF.xml) in your PC’s my document > DashWare > DataProfiles folder for file reading of Defi’s logging data to DashWare.

  4. Save log files (.dsd) to your PC from the USB flash drive.
    DEFI > DSDF > LOGDATA

  5. Convert dsd files to csv files by using the conversion tool (DSDFConvertVxxx.exe). When you do this, the log file selection screen will appear, so select the file and press the Convert button.

  6. Start DashWare and then open or make a project.

  7. Click Project > Add Data Logger File to Project.

  8. Select a converted csv file and Choose DefiSportsDisplayF from the profiles. Then press the ADD button.

How to update

  1. Download the update file. (file name: Update.bin)
  2. Save it in the root directory of a USB flash drive. （NOT in the “DEFI” folder.)
  3. Connect the USB flash drive to DSDF and turn on the power.

  4. Press the OK button in MENU > SYSTEM SETTINGS > SYSTEM UPDATE.

    Version information is displayed on the system update page. (Ver. X.X)

  5. The screen goes out during the update, and the rightmost sequential LED (red) lights up. DSDF restarts after updating. (Estimated update time: 6-10 minutes)

    *DO NOT turn off the power or unplug the USB memory while updating.
    *After updating, please delete files on PC or USB memory as they are unnecessary.
