The company designs and develops retrofit gauges and displays mainly for automobiles.
Defi was launched in 1995 with the mission of bringing Nippon Seiki’s technology to the aftermarket.
The company has developed the industry’s first link-type gauges, self-illuminated BF gauges, and displays using its proprietary OLED displays.

Nippon Seiki, the mother company of Defi, has 80 years of experience as an instrument manufacturer, designing and manufacturing automotive meters worldwide. The company boasts the world’s top share in motorcycle meters.

*Head-up display: a display device that projects information onto the windshield.
Released Link-type Meter
Released “Defi-Link Meter,” the industry’s first link-type meter equipped with a multiple communication link system and an in-house made stepping motor.
* Multiplex communication: A system that allows multiple data to be communicated at once. It allows multiple meters to be connected to each other and each meter can transmit data simultaneously.
Released Self-Luminous Meter
First in the industry to launch the “Defi-Link Meter BF” that lights up by itself when ignition is turned on.
Released a meter equipped with OLED made in-house

*Two-way communication: A bidirectional data communication system that allows data to be sent from the meter to the unit in addition to from the unit to the meter.

Released “Defi-Link Meter ADVANCE ZD,” the industry’s first OLED display
with an extended auto-dimming system.
*Extended Auto-Dimming System: Two-way communication and a dimming sensor in the display enable automatic dimming of the meter by feeding back luminance information sensed by the display to the system.
