The “Defi-Link System” was launched in 1998 to connect monocular meters in a series of beads. The Defi-Link system evolved into the ADVANCE system in 2009. (All products of the Defi-Link system were discontinued in March 2011.)
The concept of these two link systems is the same: connect power and sensors to one control unit. Then, up to seven meters or displays can be connected to a single meter harness that connects to that unit.
However, the system itself is very different between the Defi-Link system and the ADVANCE system.
One of the differences between the Defi-Link system and the ADVANCE system is the direction of communication:
One example is an automatic dimming system with two-way communication. In combination with an ADVANCE FD or Defi Sport Display F equipped with a dimming sensor, the dimming signal is sent to an analog meter (ADVANCE A1 or ADVANCE BF) that does not have a dimming sensor. This allows switching from manual dimming to automatic dimming. (Automatic/manual can be changed in the settings).
Since the Defi-Link system with one-way communication and the ADVANCE system with two-way communication are different systems, their products are not compatible. When changing your Defi-Link system to the ADVANCE system, you will need to prepare ADVANCE series units and meters. However, some sensors and extension wire can be used with the same products.
The parts marked with “Compatible” in the table below can be diverted from the parts of the Defi-Link system.
