Please note that Section 25269 of the California Vehicle Code
provides that " no person shall display a steady burning
red warning light on a vehicle," except as may otherwise
be provided herein. The exceptions permitting red lights apply
to emergency vehicles and other situations that are not be applicable
to the V.S.D. instruments. Other states have similar prohibitions
in their respective vehicle codes.
Note that the V.S.D. display unit projects light upwards upon
the transparent screen, so that the image can be reflected into
the driver's line of sight. In some situations, it is possible
that the light from the LEDs of the display unit may be visible
to a person located in front of the vehicle, either because
the angle at which the display unit is mounted on the dashboard
or because the angle of the dashboard is inclined towards the
front of the vehicle.
If this is the case, the applicable regulatory authorities might
interpret the use of the V.S.D. display unit to be a violation
of California Vehicle Code Section 25269 or other state vehicle
codes. |
