How long does it ordinarily take to install
the Sports V.S.D.?
It will generally take approximately 60 minutes to complete the
installation, although it may take longer or less time depending
upon the configuration of your vehicle.
On which vehicles can the Sports V.S.D. be
installed?
The product can be installed on vehicles with 3, 4, 5, 6
and 8 cylinder engines and engine computers utilizing 2, 4, 8 and
16 pulses. The product cannot be installed on vehicles where a speed
pulse signal is not available on the engine computer, unless the
vehicle is equipped with an aftermarket speed pulse sensor.
Do I need wiring for the product ?
Yes. You need wiring for IGN(power), AND(ground), SP(speedometer)
signal and TA(tachometer) signal from the ECU(Engine Computer Unit)
of your vehicle. You will also need wiring to connect to the BAT+
( which connects to 12V battery) and ILM, (which supplies 12V when
the instrument panel lights are ON). If the Speed Governor Release
is to be utilized, you need to connect the inner and outer connector
terminals which are included in the Sports V.S.D.kit.
Do I have to obtain the connector from an
auto-parts or hardware store in order to install the product?
No, you don't. All of the necessary connectors for the installation
are included in the Sports V.S.D. kit.
I have a diesel vehicle. Will the speed
pulse signal work ?
Yes, if the speed pulse wire from the control unit is connected
to the ECU.
Why doesn't the tachometer display function
(TA) work on diesel vehicles ?
Diesel vehicles have no spark plugs, so there is no standard
electrical signal output from vehicle to measure engine revolution
speed. (Some recent diesel vehicles have electronic controls.)
If TA signal is not available from the engine
computer unit (ECU), can I obtain TA signal from the igniter of
the vehicle's engine?
Yes, you can.
Can the Speed Governor Release be used on
all vehicle's models?
The Speed Governor Release cannot be used on Toyota ECT vehicles.
