Can I install the product myself ?

Yes. The sensor and all units can be connected easily using the connectors provided. The unit is powered by connecting it to the cigarette lighter socket. Please refer to the installation manual
for more details.

Can I transfer my FIELD COMPASS to another car?

Yes. In this case you will need to obtain additional display films. Please check the manual.

Why does the Voltmeter display more than 12 volts even though the battery has only a 12 volt capacity?

While the engine is on, it is normal for the battery voltage to be more than 12 volts.

When I turn the vehicle key to the accessory position, the display appears immediately. When I turn on the vehicle ignition to start engine, the display appears after a moment. Why?

This is because the starter motor uses a lot of current and the battery voltage lowers for an instant.

There is no change in voltage.

This is because the generator's voltage regulator is set to hold a certain level of current. For example, this may occur when lights are turned on or off in the vehicle or or other instances where there is a lot of current flowing but the voltage itself does not change.

The indicated temperature on the display differs from the actual outside temperature.

Please follow the steps listed below.
If the difference is minor:
The variation may arise from the position of the external temperature sensor. Reposition it in a place where it will not be affected by engine heat or heat emitted from the interior of the vehicle.

If the difference is significant.
Check the temperature difference when the engine is cold. If the temperature reading is correct when the engine is cold, the sensor is being affected by engine heat or vehicle heat. Reposition the sensor where it will not be affected.

If the reading is still incorrect the product could may be damaged or defective.

Compass cannot be set to desired direction.

Check the following:
Has the compass been installed correctly, according to the installation instructions? When the compass is set to the COMPASS DIRECTION MODE, does the display pointer light go off ?

Do the SET and MODE SWITCH ON/OFF functions work properly ?

The Voltmeter displays less than 10V during starter operation.

This may be caused by one or more of the following three factors:
1. The lighter plug is not connected properly. Check to see if the inside of the plug is dirty.

2. The battery may be low.

3. When the motor starts, the voltage of the vehicle's electrical system lowers temporarily and then recovers.

The display is dim or fails to operate.

Check the following:
1. The battery may be low.
2. The vehicle's electrical system voltage may be insufficient to operate the unit.
(The minimum voltage for operation of this unit is 10V. It will fail to work properly at a voltage below this.)

The engine doesn't start when the key is turned on.

It is possible that the battery cable was disconnected during installation of the unit and the wires not reattached.

Nothing is showing on the display.

Check the following:
Is there voltage at the cigarette lighter plug? Some vehicles do not have voltage at the cigarette lighter socket when the ignition is off. This product is designed for vehicles with an electrical system operating at 10 volts or more. It will fail to operate properly on a vehicle with a lower voltage electric system.

The display does not change.

Check the following:
Has the MODE SWITCH been set correctly ? Sometimes, switching between 16 and 8 point display is barely visible. Please check carefully.
