FAQ
INSTALLATION
Do I need wiring for the product ?
Yes. You need wiring for IGN(power), GND(ground), SP(speedometer) signal and TA(tachometer) signal from the ECU(Engine Computer Unit) of your vehicle.

Can the product be installed on all models of vehicles ?
The product can be installed on certain models of 4 cycles 3, 4, 5 and 6 cylinder vehicles. However, the Tachometer display cannot be used on diesel engine vehicles.

Can the product be installed on vehicles without an ECU ?
The product cannot be installed on vehicles where a SP signal is not available at the ECU, unless the vehicle is equipped with an aftermarket SP sensor.

I have a diesel vehicle. Will SP work ?
Yes, if the SP signal is connected to the ECU.

Why doesn't the TA tachometer display function work on diesel vehicles ?
This is because diesel vehicles have no spark plugs, so there is no standard electrical signal output. (Some recent diesel vehicles have electronic controls.)

Is it possible to install the product on vehicles without a tachometer ?
If the tachometer signal can be obtained from the ECU, it is possible.

Can the product be used on cars if their computers have been replaced ?
It may be possible to obtain an SP signal from a replacement ECU. We are uncertain whether the TA signal cannot be interpreted on some replacement ECUs. ( From our tests, we have found that there is some malfunctioning. )

Can the product be used on cars with a modified ignition system ?
It depends on what parts have been changed. Generally, it can be used if the ignition system has not been altered. However, the company will not be held responsible for any problems arising from use of our products in a vehicle with modified ignition systems.

I obtain SP signal from my navigation system ; can I use the signal from there ?
We cannot guarantee proper functioning of the product by taking an SP signal from the navigation system.

Why has the Auto light(headlight controller) stopped functioning after installing V.S.D.II ?
Using both accessories places an increased load on the point of the vehicle electrical system where the product is attached which may result in failure of other devices. We recommend the use of either accessory separately.

When SP(TA) display is not needed, must the SP or TA wire be attached to the ECU leads?
No.

TECHNICAL
What if data displayed on the original vehicle instrumentation is different to that provided on the V.S.D.II display?
The equipment is not faulty. Please take the following steps.

If the difference is minor
Original Instrument calibration may vary by vehicle manufacturer. Our tests showed an average maximum variation of 4.35 MPH.
The VSD BASIS cannot be calibrated for individual vehicles. If you are concerned about the difference between the VSD BASIS display and that of the vehicle's original instrumentation, please drive according to the vehicle's original equipment.

If the difference is significant
The control unit may be broken. Contact your retailer.

What are IGN, GND, SP, TA, ILM and +B ?
IGN = 12V positive switched on when ignition is on.
GND = Ground
SP = Speed Signal.
TA = Engine Revolution Signal.
ILM = Light switch together with small lights.
+B = 12V positive.

OTHERS
Are there any plans to release a new version of V.S.D.II with an LED display color other than red or blue ?
No, there are no plans at the moment. If you have any suggestions for new products, please advise us by e-mail. Your feedback is important in our development of future products.
